What is the Mexico national standard NMX-R-019-SCFI-2011?

The standard NMX-R-019-SCFI-2011 implemented the GHS in Mexico and came into force on June 4, 2011. The standard establishes the criteria for classifying chemicals according to the physical, health and environmental hazards outlined in the GHS. Unlike the typical GHS implementation occurring around the world, the standard NMX-R-019-SCFI-2011 is optional. This means that it may be used instead of the mandatory classification and labelling standard for SDS under the standard NOM-018-STPS-2000.
